Security is also something easier to plan for earlier rather than later. If you’re setting up a studio from scratch, an easy load in/out and on site parking will probably get you more repeat work than your ruler-flat acoustics. While you might not be in a position to do anything about it, parking and access are really important. Have a sofa and have some stools, watch out for noisy adjustable chairs and have a table or flat surface available other than at the mix position. ![]() But however comfortable they might be, they aren’t suitable for slouching or playing instruments. You might think it mandatory to have a Herman Miller chair. Seating should be appropriate for all the different tasks which are undertaken in a studio. ![]() We were getting close to this in the first point with having a mix of seating. Steve’s biggest tip on air con is to ignore the advice of installers and under-specify the system. Over small distances this is likely to be a minimal effect but over larger distances it can be significant. Steve also raises the interesting point that, since sound waves propagate more slowly through cold air than they do in warm air, if an air con vent causes a temperature gradient in the path of sound from monitors to listener then this can cause sound to ‘bend’. A comfortable studio is welcome but fluctuating temperatures are not and if the air con causes rapid changes of temperature it will take the tuning of instruments with it, including drum kits and pianos. There are other issues to be kept in mind. Larger air con units themselves can introduce mechanical noise unless properly isolated from the structure of the building and the grilles on vents can be sources of noise. While it solves temperature issues it can introduce others. Depending on where you are in the world and what gear you have in your studio, air conditioning is anywhere from recommended to absolutely essential. Steve is fast to offer this as his number 2. Luckily it’s unlikely you’ll find a studio these days in which people smoke but I remember the stale ‘morning studio’ smell too well. Just be careful not to cross over into clutter.Ī good combination of chairs suitable for work and more relaxed seating like the ubiquitous ‘producer sofa’ really helps as does keeping the studio tidy, clean (I’ve found surprising amounts of grime in world class studio control rooms before) and, really importantly, smelling OK. And wall art and ornaments can add personality to what can otherwise start to feel like an office. There is more to vibe than how a studio looks, though in these days of hardwood floors don’t underestimate the way a rug, as Jeff ‘The Dude’ Lebowski would point out, “really ties the room together”. They look cool in studio pictures but you’re nearly always blocking your own light! A sympathetically designed studio is one in which you shouldn’t miss the daylight if you don’t have any. If the studio feels oppressive, how can the creative work carried out in it ever be as good as it could be? Light is crucial, more and more studios have embraced natural light but if your studio doesn’t have access to daylight it doesn’t need to feel like a ‘windowless box’. Studios are creative spaces and ones in which people inevitably spend a great deal of time. Refreshingly he starts with the least technical but most important aspect of all. ![]() ![]() ![]() Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow (video game) (2006) – Elizabeth Swann, Nassau Villager Female #3.Kingdom Hearts II (2006) – Elizabeth Swann, additional voices. In 2012, she joined the cast of Spider Baby the Musical for a San Diego performance, playing the role of Emily Howe. Well, I’ll get rid of this, you know, come up here to image adjustments levels. But instead of having all those adjustment layers up here, why not combine them all together with the smart filters? But instead of creating, say, a levels and you’re working on it and it’s affecting everything, you’d have to clip it to the layers below. And you can still add adjustment layers to this to refine it any way you want. You see, there’s two before and there’s the after. ![]() If I expand this over here, you see that it is now a smart filter so I can go back into neural filters, specifically to the harmonization.Ĭlick on that and I can go in and make changes and have it go out to my smart filter again or turn off my filter. If you choose a smart filter and say, OK, this is what happens. So down here we have all these output options. We can take this out of the neural filters and do more to the image. So now the harmonization neural filter got us pretty much to where we wanted to get. There’s the before and there’s the after. If I think it’s still too saturated, I can bring down the saturation a little bit, and maybe it’s a little too bright still to bring down the brightness. I can back that strength off there’s the before and after, so it’s not as strong. Photoshop tried to blend the image into the background, but this is just a starting point, though now I can come here to the strength if think this is too much. You see that the subject was a lot brighter. ![]() And down here you can click to show the original. So I’m going to click on that and Photoshop is matching the color and the luminosity. The layer that’s going to affect your subject. So I’m going to turn on the filter and now you had to select a background layer, so you’re going to have to choose which one you want to be So you need to do that before you use it. #PHOTOSHOP 2022 NEURAL FILTERS DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD#This is a beta filter and it had a download button on it. So now if I go up here to filter neural filters and I’m going to highlight harmonization, and I’ve already downloaded all the filters here. So one thing you want to make sure of is the layer that you’re going to use to blend into the background, you want that layer to either have a mask or transparency. If you want to work on it and you just close it and it will ask if you want to save. If you double click it, you can actually go back into the smart object and you have the layer mask still there. I’m going to convert this to a smart object and you have this little icon right here on the layer. So the first thing I wanted to do is make a smart object out of this layer where the subject is. #PHOTOSHOP 2022 NEURAL FILTERS DOWNLOAD HOW TO#How to use the Harmonization Neural FilterĪnd so we have to have this subject to blend into this background. This background, as all these colorful leaves, all those warm tones are going to be spilling all over the place, all over the subject, all over the road. So here the subject needs to match the environment. ![]() And I worked a little bit on the mask already.Īnd I put this subject in this background right here. But why not let the new harmonization neural filter do it? So I have a subject here and I had already cut the subject out of in the background was on a white background shot in the studio. You can use various adjustment layers to do this. When compositing a subject into a background like this, things like color tones and brightness Coming up, we have to harmonize the landscape, mixer neural filters. Today, we’re talking about the new neural filters introduced in the fall 2021 version of Adobe Photoshop 2022. |
